I moved to The Domik in 2015, when I was 14. At that time I was afraid of everyone, I was hiding, often crying, causing myself to vomit and was always hungry. It was impossible to approach me – I roared and did not understand what was going on. Not without difficulty, but our tutors managed to earn my trust, to arouse my interest in the surrounding world.

Everything in my life is different now. I managed to overcome fear and now I look in the face of my partner in conversation openly and calmly. I talk by signs, I understand everyone without words. I learned to respect myself and others, realized that I have the right to choose. And this is very important, because I am a grown-up now! I managed to fully master the daily-living skills.

No one dresses me anymore — I open the closet myself, take my time to inspect and choose very thoroughly what to wear today. Sometimes I consult with adults, listen to their opinion.

The tutors had to do their very best to capture my interest before, but now I come up with all activities. And I constantly keep myself busy: if I carry my things to the laundry, I will grab things of a friend on the way; if I wash the dishes, I will wash all the dishes for everybody, if I sweep the floor, then everywhere. I always appreciate with a thrifty eye what is wrong and where. If I can — I will correct it myself, if not — I will call an adult and show where disorder is!

As a rule, I’m very responsible! I treat school classes with great diligence and attention, I collect my school bag in the morning myself.

Despite my positive nature, I feel sad sometimes. Then I go to my room, but I come back soon and look for support of an adult, because feeling blue together with a friend is always easier than alone!
