Feruza I.

19 years. Muscle-skeleton disorders, manifested by inability to move without the use of technical means (wheelchair, walking frame); intellectual limitations; disorders of self-regulation of the emotional-volitional sphere

My parents gave me up right after my birth. I grew up in an orphanage, in the children’s department with severe multiple malformations. I was possibly the most active child among all. However, my medical record showed that I had cerebral spastic infantile paralysis, and moreover was learning-disabled.

I’ve been living in The Domik since 2015, since I was 9.

My parents gave me up right after my birth. I grew up in an orphanage, in the children’s department with severe multiple malformations. I was possibly the most active child among all – I was good at crawling, learnt to speak, could eat myself and always ate with a good appetite, could easily earn adults’ attention. However, my medical record showed that I had cerebral spastic infantile paralysis, and moreover was learning-disabled.

Now I go to school! And this is my most important achievement today. Not long ago I didn’t have any idea of letters and numbers and couldn’t understand what was the point of it. When I went to the 1st grade, I immediately promised to eat my first teacher. But she was really wonderful! She survived and taught me so many things: reading, counting, using multiplication table and typing on the keyboard! I’m strong and ambitious! In the evening when the kids are already asleep, I just start doing my homework convincing myself that I won’t have bad grades!

Every day now is scheduled for events: school in the morning, extra classes such as ceramics, music, cooking, individual classes with speech pathologist in the evening. I’m happy to have dance classes and physical training in our The Domik. On Saturdays I go to the swimming pool. So, the list is endless!

Our friends, volunteers, often come to visit us! So sometimes I can hardly find a free time for a walk. I like swinging on the swings, sledding and just singing my favorite songs!

P.S. I almost forgot to tell you I’m a wheelchair user. But it doesn’t really matter, does it?
