Kirill K.
On the day of my relocation, I was the only one of all children who was neither interested in new toys, nor in studying the room, but only shouted lustily and cried. I was very scared: I did not believe that something could change in my life for the better…
I came to The Domik in 2015 when I was very little – I was only 5 years old and looked even younger. I had zero communication skills at that time and I did not want to make contact with adults.
Despite my difficulties in adaptation to the new surroundings, the love and attention of the fosterers helped me to get comfortable in The Domik quickly. Now I’m interested in everything, there is so much new and unexplored around that sometimes I have no time to rest! We have wonderful adults here! I’m not afraid to look them in the eyes, and when I need something, I take the tutor’s hand and lead. For me, this is the only way to express my wishes — I can’t speak yet.
But I have learned many useful things: to eat and chew different food carefully, to wash my hands and wipe them with a towel, to put on T-shirt and pants on my own, with the help of a tutor I collect my backpack for classes.
Like every ordinary child, I sometimes show mettle — stubbornness and temper. But adults seem to be even happy about that: they say that I am becoming independent and learning to stand my ground.
Now my life is full of various interesting events: I go to school and visit classes at the Center for Curative Pedagogics, go outside, play with friends, go to the swimming pool on Saturdays. Most of all I like to play catch-ups, it’s so much fun! And in summer we go to a summer camp! Can you imagine that?
