Room

Each foster-child has his own room — this is a very important step towards independence.

A room is the first step towards independence. When you have your own space, you learn to choose how to arrange things, which poster to hang. It gives you a sense of control in a world that often seems unpredictable.

Each room in the «Domik» is a small world created specifically for the person who lives in it. The walls are painted in the residents’ favorite colors, and the shelves hold things dear to their hearts: family photos, children’s drawings or handicrafts from workshops. The lighting is soft, the furniture is without sharp corners, and there is a warm carpet on the floor so that you can walk barefoot. For those who need it, there is an assistant call button next to the bed — it adds confidence that help is always there.

The space is adapted to different needs: the beds are height-adjustable, the doorways are wide, and there is a bag chair in the corner of the room where you can hide with a book or just relax from the noise. Everything is important here, from the comfortable handles on the cabinets to your favorite music that plays in the evenings. The room not only provides security, but also helps to learn how to choose: «What will my sunset look like outside the window?», «Where should I put a new pot with a flower?». This is a place where residents feel for the first time that their voice matters.
