City

We often travel to the city with the children of the Domik. For example, as part of the Moscow City Government’s Urban Programs for Children and Youth with DISABILITIES project, Katya, Samat, Anton and Kolya attended an inclusive tour. It was not just a walk, but a real adventure! The children, along with their escorts, watched the animals in the enclosures with great interest. Every corner of the zoo opened up its own wonderful world for them: the lions were resting importantly in the shade, the monkeys were jumping joyfully, and the birds were chirping merrily on the branches.Panda Katyusha, the symbol of the Moscow Zoo, caused special delight among the residents of the House. The boys watched her lazily plucking bamboo, tried to imitate her movements, laughed and clapped their hands. Katya was especially glad to meet her namesake.

But the most interesting thing was waiting for our guys ahead! They managed not only to look at the animals, but also to get to know some of them better, and also make some discoveries. For example, the rooster turned out to be much more friendly than it seemed at first; the guinea pigs were tame and curious, and the prickly hedgehog, although he tried to be harsh, looked quite friendly.For our students, such trips are an encounter with a vast, vibrant and complex world, an opportunity to broaden their horizons and gain valuable experience of interacting with others. At such moments, the support of adults, their attention, warmth and acceptance are especially important to them, which help them overcome fears and enjoy new experiences.
